Employees are required to pass drug testing and safety training (general and site safety including trenching).

Uniforms are provided by the company and are to be worn at all times while at work. Employees are expected to keep a neat, clean appearance, keeping hair and beard trimmed neatly.

Sick leave is allowed for doctor’s appointments for employee and family, limited to 40 hours per year. Paid sick leave must be accompanied by a doctor’s note. Sick leave is paid at the regular hourly rate.

Vacation is paid up to 40 hours for leave and personal business. Vacation is paid at the regular hourly rate

Profit sharing is computed by management on the company’s yearly earnings and is performance related.

Coates Corporation works on a five day work week. Overtime is paid weekly at “ time and one half” on all hours over 40 per week. Saturday and night work is occasionally needed and prior notice will be given ahead of time for such. All employees report to the shop or to the jobsites and check in with the foreman or superintendent in charge each morning. Time stops upon leaving the jobsites in the afternoon, usually 5:00 to 6:00 PM.

All employees are given a one half hour lunch (Monday through Thursday) and one hour lunch ( Friday) and two fifteen minute breaks per day.
